Mr. Vihstadt concentrates in lender representation in market rate and affordable multifamily and healthcare facility financings involving HUD, FHA and Ginnie Mae, including new construction loans, acquisitions, refinancings, workouts/restructurings, assignments, tax-exempt and taxable bond projects, and post-closing servicing matters. His practice also includes government and legislative affairs, in the firm’s capacity as counsel to the Committee on Healthcare Financing, an FHA-oriented healthcare financing trade association. Mr. Vihstadt is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the National Housing Conference and served as a Board member of Community Residences, Inc., which administers group homes for the developmentally disabled and mentally ill. He served on the Arlington, Virginia Housing Commission and Arlington Planning Commission. Prior to joining Krooth & Altman in 1989, Mr. Vihstadt served three years as Executive Assistant to the President of Ginnie Mae. From 1981 to 1985, he worked for the Select Committee on Aging, U. S. House of Representatives. Mr. Vihstadt received his B.A. degree and J.D. degree from the University of Nebraska. He is a member of the American, District of Columbia, Nebraska and Iowa Bar Associations. An active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA), he serves on the MBA’s Insured Projects Committee. He is a frequent speaker at national and regional mortgage banking and housing finance conferences.
